October 21, 2013 - American Industrial Systems announces Open Platform Panel PC Touch Screen HMI for hazardous areas. The HMIs are Non-Incendive (NI), Intrinsically Safe (IS) and Explosion Proof, and meet NEC/CEC Class/Division, ATEX Directive 94/9/EC Zone for safety in Division 2 and Zone 2 operator control and monitoring applications. The HMI Touch Screen Panel PC enclosure is fully constructed with stainless steel, carrying type 4/4x, IP 65/66, NEMA 4/4X environmental ratings (UL 50 or IEC 529) on the entire system including fully sealed I/O ports.
The hazardous areas HMI operator interface supports wide operating temperatures from -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F) and is suitable for a wide variety of Upstream, Midstream And Downstream Oil and Gas Applications including drilling systems, drilling control rooms, drill monitors, drilling management systems, pipeline control and monitoring, refinery process operator control systems, local instrument rooms, machinery control systems, remote monitoring and control and more. Pre-loaded with Windows Embedded or Linux operating system, the rugged AIS HMI solution also boasts superior application flexibility and configurability for integrating with third party PLC and SCADA programming packages.
