ATS Automation Tooling Systems' Shareholders Elect New Director at Annual Meeting

CAMBRIDGE, ON, Sept. 13 /CNW/ - ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. todayannounced that William Biggar has been elected to the Board of Directors atthe Company's annual meeting of shareholders late yesterday afternoon inKitchener. Mr. Biggar is Managing Director of Richardson Capital Limited, a Canadianprivate equity firm.

Mr. Biggar is an experienced business executive with morethan 25 years of experience. Prior to joining Richardson Capital, he heldsenior management positions with MI Developments Inc, Magna International Inc.and Cambridge Shopping Centres.

He is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelorof Commerce degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto. Mr.

Biggar joins an experienced Board that includes Larry Tapp, formerDean of the Richard Ivey School of Business; Richard Campbell, President ofSeacoast Consulting and a former senior executive of Black & Decker; RobertFerchat, retired Chairman and CEO of Bell Mobility; Peter Janson, formerChairman and CEO of the North American Operations of AMEC Inc.; Robert Luba,President of Luba Financial Inc. and previously, President and CEO of RoyalBank Investment Management; and, Ron Jutras, President and CEO of ATS. Robert Tivy, a Director of ATS since 1992 and a key advisor to thefounder of ATS during the 1980s, retired from the Board but was appointedDirector Emeritus in recognition of his outstanding contributions to theCompany's development. Mr.

Tivy has more than 40 years of business experienceearned while holding senior positions with General Telephone and Electronicsand Black and Decker and will remain an important source of knowledge andinsight for the Board.
