August 29, 2008 - With the FlexTop 2231, Baumer’s product segment Process Instrumentation offers a versatile temperature transmitter with Profibus communication. The FlexTop 2231 is fully configurable via Simatic PDM software. Furthermore, the Profibus communication allows online process monitoring as well as multiple process control in 2-wire networks. With its ATEX approval, the device is especially suitable for Ex applications.FlexTop 2231 is a configurable universal temperature transmitter with galvanic isolation between input and output.
The input can be configured for resistance thermometers, thermocouples, resistance sensors and current or voltage signals, using either a 2-, 3- or 4-wire or a dual Pt100 connection for the resistance input. If fitted with a dual Pt100, the FlexTop can be configured for a differential, average or average with redundancy output signal. Due to the compact design in an ø 44 mm sealed enclosure, the FlexTop can be easily installed in a DIN-B housing, a Baumer ø 80 mm stainless steel housing or a TE1 stainless steel field housing.
The 6 mm center hole allows fast sensor replacement, and spring loaded mounting screws ensure a safe fastening even in vibrating environments. It is suitable for the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical and biological technologies, chemical and petrochemical industry as well as for power plants. The FlexTop 2231 PA is already used by some of the world’s largest dairies for controlling temperature in milk processing plants and by major Danish gas supply companies to control the temperature in their pipelines.
