September 13, 2009 - B&B Electronics Manufacturing signed a distribution agreement with N-TRON Corporation, a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of Ethernet networking equipment for industrial applications. Under the new partnership, B&B Electronics will sell and stock N-TRON products and provide global technical and commercial support.Commenting on the product launch, company CEO Don Wiencek states, “N-TRON industrial networking products are reputed for price-for-performance value. Their Ethernet radios and switches are designed for mission-critical MIS, data acquisition, control applications, and industrial environments requiring high-throughput and minimum downtime.
As an N-TRON stocking distributor, we maintain a large inventory of N-TRON switches, available for immediate delivery.”There is no place that challenges data acquisition and control like a nuclear power plant. Lives depend on reliable power, and reliable power depends on rugged systems engineered for extreme environments. One nuclear power station was reluctant to use Ethernet as a control network because commercial grade switches were fragile and Ethernet was non-deterministic. In addition, traditional instrumentation and control systems have many weaknesses like analog systems, point-to-point wiring, inherently fragility, noise susceptibility, and slow analog-to-digital conversion times.
The plant chose N-TRON Ethernet switches and switching technology for Ethernet reliability. Ring topologies provide redundancy if a device fails or a cable is cut or damaged and fiber optic cable is immune to electrical noise.N-TRON now offers EtherNet/IP with CIP messaging and LLDP as standard features on 700 and 7000 series switches. CIP tags, RSLogix 5000 sample projects, and diagnostic faceplates for FactoryTalk View ME facilitate quick set-up and configuration. The enhanced firmware is just a download away for existing 700/7000 switch owners.
