Creative Diversions website offers unique and comical look at the engineering profession. Includes music, videos, and even signs related to all types of workplace humor.

Hoffman Estates, IL – “While hard at work delivering solutions and technologies to the world’s industrial machinery industry, employees at Bosch Rexroth occasionally find time for a well-deserved break. Luckily, they don’t have to go far to enjoy a few moments of interesting and often hilarious tidbits from around the globe. The company’s “Creative Diversions” area on the web at www.boschrexroth-us.com/diversions is designed to inform and entertain visitors on a daily basis.

Initially set up to celebrate the fun side of the engineering profession, the site has branched out to include music, videos, and even signs related to all types of workplace humor. What began as part of a Bosch corporate promotional contest has turned into a hit for the Rexroth audience, including associates, customers and even the trade media. “Creative Diversions was our Rexroth USA entry in the contest” said Kevin Gingerich, director of marketing services in Buchanan, MI. “We concluded that engineers love humor, and that we could draw many new visitors to our website if we stopped being serious for just a few minutes.

And so far, it’s worked.” Although the reach was good from the start, people have been signing up to receive the Creative Diversions webletter at a high rate. The webmaster receives numerous submissions for new diversions every day. For example, visitors can submit ideas for the “Funniest Computer Viruses” or “Funniest English Translation.”

Visitors to the site can also enjoy a laugh by reading the “Top Ten Reasons NOT to Date an Engineer,” and “You Know You’re an Engineer If….” Interested engineers may also read about “Rexroth’s Top Ten Projects,” which lists the company’s most ambitious and exciting industrial automation and assembly technology projects from around the world; or they may choose to learn about lean manufacturing, machine safety or other relevant topics by browsing Rexroth’s “Top Ten White Papers.” With the support of readers, subscribers, trade press, Rexroth associates, and most importantly, the wide world of engineers, the Creative Diversions team will continue to exhibit the fun side of office and engineering culture.

Bosch Rexroth AG, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately $6.2 billion (4.9 billion Euro) in 2006 with over 29,800 employees.
