Watertown, CT, August 2005… Bristol Babcock and ISONAS Security Systems announced today the addition of an integrated solution for facility access control to the OpenBSI Security Vision with ControlWaveâ hybrid PLC/RTU.Bristol Babcock’s Security Vision, is a complete video capture, logging, and replay application for ControlWave and ControlWave Micro RTU/PLC products for use in both plant area and remote area SCADA systems.
Video surveillance is playing an increasingly important role in security at many facilities to reduce or eliminate the need for manned patrols and provide secure historical logging of events for post event investigation.Bristol Babcock and ISONAS Security Systems, the leading developer of IP Door Readers & Controllers, have partnered to add real-time facility access control to ControlWave and integrate this solution into Security Vision. The solution allows networking of multiple Isonas proximity card readers, deployed at critical entry locations throughout a facility, into ControlWave for access control. The access authorization database is easily managed with the ISONAS Security Access software residing in the operations PC.
The database and any subsequent changes are downloaded to ControlWave for local access control. Authorized and denied access attempts are reported to operations through the Bristol OpenBSI Security Vision application also residing on the operations PC. A major advantage of integrating security into the SCADA system is that security measures are coordinated with operations. SCADA systems already provide operators with normal and abnormal process conditions. They also readily interface with a wide variety of process analyzers, motion, intrusion, and tamper sensors.
