FANUC Robotics America, Inc., the robotic paint finishing industry leader, will demonstrate its new P-250iA/15 coating robot and R-J3iC Intelligent Robot Controller at the National Plastics Exposition at McCormick Place in Chicago, June 19-23, booth #9620.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., June 14, 2006 – FANUC Robotics America, Inc., the robotic paint finishing industry leader, will demonstrate its new P-250iA/15 coating robot and R-J3iC Intelligent Robot Controller at the National Plastics Exposition at McCormick Place in Chicago, June 19-23, booth #9620. The P-250iA/15 is FANUC Robotics' 12th generation coating robot. It offers a reliable and precise solution for coating consumer and automotive products including plastic, metal and fiberglass parts.

At NPE, the P-250iA/15 will simulate painting plastic fascias. Supported by the new R-J3iC Controller, the six-axis P-250iA/15 features enhanced motion performance, delivering fast acceleration and high-speed operation. A hollow wrist design and ‘best in class’ work envelope, increase flexibility and simplify system integration for a wide range of paint process equipment. Floor and invert mounting, a slim arm and wrist assembly, and multiple hose routing options help minimize interference with system equipment, and allow the robot to access unusual or hard to reach parts, even in small workspaces. “Enhanced design features and easy integration helps increase throughput which improves transfer efficiency,” said Barton Faylor, FANUC Robotics' paint industry manager.

“The P-250iA/15 offers flexibility to handle a variety of coating applications, it's easy to maintain and can quickly adapt when part runs change. In addition, the new R-J3iC Robot Controller uses high-performance hardware and the latest control technology, providing a level of intelligence never offered before. These benefits translate into major cost savings for our customers,” added Faylor.

The P-250iA/15 offers a wide range of process advantages that help maximize system performance, including: - Optional ROBOGUIDE PaintPRO software is an easy to use, Windows-based simulation package.- A maximum horizontal reach of 2800 mm, and coating speeds as high as 1500 mm per second.- Accuflow closed-loop fluid delivery automatically maintains programmed flow rates, which provides consistent material delivery and higher finish quality.- Collision Guard monitors for unexpected interference to reduce machine and applicator damage and maximize uptime.- Accuchop closed-loop fluid control for FRP applications.- The robot can flip over itself, providing a very large work area for painting.- Ideal solution for appliance, automotive component, fascia, fiberglass chop/gel coating, automotive topcoat, and watercraft manufacturing. - Patented purge system approved for operation in hazardous environments including Class I and II, Division I and Groups C, D, E, F and G. - The hollow wrist and through arm hose routing provide a clean application environment. The P-250iA/15 robot's large work envelope, 15 kg payload capacity at the wrist, and additional 15 kg on the outer arm enable a wide range of painting applications.

The robot's advanced motion software provides constant speeds, which improves the uniformity and appearance of the paint finish. FANUC Robotics America, Inc. designs, engineers and manufactures industrial robots and robotic systems for a wide range of applications including arc and spot welding, material handling (machine tending, picking, packing, palletizing), material removal, assembly, paint finishing and dispensing. The company also provides application-specific software, controls, vision products, and complete support services. After 24 years of success, FANUC Robotics is the leading robotics company in the Americas.

A subsidiary of FANUC LTD in Japan, the company has facilities in Chicago; Los Angeles; Charlotte, N.C.; Cincinnati and Toledo, Ohio; Toronto; Montreal; Aguascalientes, Mexico; and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Over 155,000 FANUC robots are installed worldwide.
