Nov. 23, 2020 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NEMA Cable Tray Section and the Unified Bulk Joint Industry Project (UBJIP) to develop harmonized cable tray requirements that are within the scope of NEMA Cable Tray Standards, Metal Cable Tray Systems , and Cable Tray Installation Guidelines. “This is a great opportunity to establish a new area for close collaboration, networking, and mutual support as UBJIP implements NEMA requirements in their Standards, known as Integrated Offshore Standard Specifications—propagating our cable tray requirements to the Asian Pacific and potentially other regions as well,” said NEMA Building Infrastructure Industry Director Daniel Abbate.
“NEMA Members and UBJIP participants recently formed a task force to begin the work." The UBJIP is a contingent of Korean fabricators and other interested parties that came together in 2015 to harmonize Standards in the oil and gas industry. It is currently run with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), DNV GL, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd's Register, Korea shipbuilders' association (KOSHIPA), and Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute. ABS lead the task force collaboration with NEMA to establish new global design requirements for all cable tray types.
