August 28, 2013 - CONEC releases vibration resistant, bayonet locking USB 2.0 Type-A and Mini-USB 2.0 Type-B Connectors designed for harsh environments, including portable test and measurement equipment.
Designed to withstand the effects of torque during repeated mating and un-mating cycles, the rugged interface of the USB 2.0 Type-A and Mini-USB 2.0 Type-B Connectors meet IP67-rating requirements when mated or covered with a protective cap.
Water-resistant USB 2.0 Type-A and Mini-USB 2.0 Type-B products feature robust internal components housed in black plastic with a compact bayonet locking method. Compared to threaded connections, the bayonet feature offers fast assembly and an audible ‘snap’ that indicates a proper and secure connection. The full size IP67-rated USB Connector Series is also available with a four-hole flange mount nickel-plated die-cast housing.
The four-hole mounting delivers extra protection against harsh environment elements, while facilitating easier “on-the-fly” connections for portable diagnostic and test & measurement applications. The USB 2.0 connectors can be front or rear panel mounted on an enclosure panel (up to 3.2mm thick) and also feature an M28 thread as a supplemental connection method to bayonet locking (front mount only).
The Mini-USB 2.0 Type-B product line includes a panel receptacle that can be PCB-mounted or used with a flex circuit, protective caps and pre-terminated jumper cables with an over-molded Mini-USB Type-B plug. The patch cables are available in various lengths (2, 3 and 5 meter standard lengths) and are terminated to an over-molded USB 2.0 Type-A standard plug.
The USB 2.0 Type-A connector has a 1.5A maximum current rating at 25ºC. The nickel-plated die-cast outer body is RoHS-compliant.
The Mini-USB 2.0 Type-B connector contacts are phosphor bronze and gold-plated with a current rating of 1.0A maximum at 25°C. Both the USB and Mini-USB 2.0 connectors operate within a temperature range of -40ºC to +80ºC.
