zenon 6.50 industrial process control and visualization software has received certification for Windows 7.

March 16, 2010 - Copa-Data announced that its zenon 6.50 industrial process control and visualization software has received certification for Windows 7. zenon 6.50 runs smoothly under Windows 7 and fully supports the new operating system’s quality and security standards.

Copa-Data released the latest version of its HMI/SCADA software, zenon 6.50, in January 2010. zenon 6.50 features many system and graphic enhancements. In addition to Microsoft VISTA and XP, zenon users can now benefit from these enhancements using Windows 7.

Copa-Data Product Manager Reinhard Mayr commented, “After just the first few months of Windows 7 being on the market, it was already quite evident that demand for the new version of the operating system was very strong. Copa-Data quickly saw the importance of having our newest version of zenon, version 6.50, certified. Thanks to the comprehensive expansions we undertook as part of Windows Vista certification, the current compatibility tests were completed quickly.”

Markus Helbok, Senior Consultant at Copa-Data, added, “Having zenon 6.50 compatible with Windows 7 means it fully accepts the Windows 7 security criteria. The user account control implemented in Windows 7 is designed to prevent important system components from being damaged by a virus or malware. However, this results in limitations for any application developer who may not be able to write directly to the Windows directory, or who can't access certain areas of the registry.

Application developers won't have this problem with zenon 6.50.” About Copa-Data USA Corp. Located in Princeton, New Jersey, Copa-Data USA Corp. is a subsidiary of Copa-Data GmbH, a leading innovator for HMI/SCADA software based in Salzburg, Austria.

COPA-DATA has been developing HMI/SCADA technologies since the mid 1980s and introduced zenon, the first graphic visualization system to run on Microsoft Windows.
