Cyberlogic updates its OPC server suite

By: Cyberlogic
10 June, 2009
Updates include 64-bit editions of its OPC server suite, driver suite and bridging suite software.

June 10, 2009 - Cyberlogic released 64-bit editions of its OPC server suite, driver suite and bridging suite software, and has updated the previously-released 32-bit editions. The new version 7 + Update 20090403 release contains both the 64-bit edition and the update for the 32-bit edition, and is available for download. The software can be installed as a free upgrade for all current version 7 installations, and can also be installed on other systems for a 14-day evaluation period.

Because this release includes several important enhancements and bug fixes, Cyberlogic urges all users of the affected products to upgrade their installations at their earliest convenience.Designers of new systems—and those who want to upgrade their existing systems to 64-bit operation—will now have full support for all Cyberlogic products and device drivers under all 64-bit Windows operating systems. And this support can be achieved almost effortlessly: all of the Plug and Play adapter cards are supported, all configuration files are compatible with 32-bit editions, and the 32-bit and 64-bit editions can be intermixed in a distributed environment.

In short, both 32-bit and 64-bit editions are fully compatible and provide nearly identical functionality.Software developers will likewise find the new edition easy to adopt. Thousands of existing applications designed to work with the 32-bit device drivers, can now run under 64-bit Windows without modification. This is possible because all of Cyberlogic’s drivers provide a dual interface: 32-bit and 64-bit. Upgrading to 64-bit APIs is easy too.

All that is necessary is to recompile the application with the 64-bit compiler and relink with the 64-bit API libraries. This release includes 64-bit editions of all version 7 Cyberlogic software suite products, and also includes updates to the 32-bit editions of these products. The affected products are:

  • OPC Crosslink Suite
  • DHX OPC Premier Suite
  • DHX OPC Server Suite
  • DHX Driver Suite
  • MBX OPC Premier Suite
  • MBX OPC Server Suite
  • MBX Bridge Suite
  • MBX Driver Suite
