December 30, 2007 - LOVES PARK, IL -- Danfoss Drives introduces the FCD QDrive – a complete IP66/NEMA 4X enclosed decentral drive solution engineered for wall or rail mounting in any position, or atop the motor itself when ordered without a circuit breaker or output contactor. Because FCD QDrives require no cabinet space, they are ideal for bus communication across a number of industry standard network configurations in demanding material handling, packaging, food and beverage applications. “FCD QDrives minimize wiring to eliminate the need for expensive shielded cables and hours of costly installation work. They feature a two-part design for quick and easy commissioning and service, as all installation connections are made through the base unit.

The base unit is available with internal terminal connection points, or external connectors. Additionally, all drive functions can be grouped in one module of a plant to reduce installation time, as well as planning and commissioning, which is particularly significant for OEMs striving for modularization,” says Darren Lecke, Product Manager.FCD QDrives deliver 0.5 to 4 HP and provide automatic motor tuning, dynamic braking, AC braking and mechanical brake control with an integrated brake supply. Special control features include a closed loop controller, precise stop, speed-compensated stop, counter stop, and flying start.

Fieldbus control is possible via DeviceNet, Profibus DP or AS-Interface, and serial communication is standard via FC protocol, Modbus RTU, and Metasys N2.FCD QDrives eliminate the need for fuses, are equipped with a built-in RFI filter and harmonic filter, and provide complete drive and motor protection. A number of options are available, including a local control pad, circuit breaker and output contactor, among others. Danfoss is a leading manufacturer of precision mechanical and electrical components, with locations in more than 120 countries. Danfoss created the VLT name when they introduced the world’s first mass-produced VFD in 1968, and the name has set the standard for high performance quality variable frequency drives ever since.
