New web-based applications enable IT and HVAC professionals to install more cost effective monitoring solutions for data center server floors and servers racks, grocery store coolers, and food processing and distribution centers

St. Paul, Minnesota, Feb. 24, 2005 – DataNab, a leader in data acquisition systems, and Barix a leading provider of IP-based interface devices, today announced two new web-based applications for temperature monitoring and power monitoring.Based on Barix’s Barionet, a fully programmable network controller, the new applications significantly reduce the costs of monitoring temperature and power data in a wide variety of commercial environments.

Temperature Monitoring At Less than $30 Per Temperature Input*

The new temperature solution monitors up to 100 temperature inputs and is ideal for data center server floors and server racks, grocery store coolers, and food processing and distribution centers, among numerous additional commercial environments. With the new application, IT and HVAC professionals can web-enable temperature points for less than $30 per temperature input*, including sensors. The solution is easy to install, with temperature sensors using a standard RJ-45 or RJ-12 connection. The application supports standard SNMP trap protocol to notify users if a temperature goes into alarm, and the alarm can also be routed via email. Current temperature levels, as well as temperature history, can be viewed via standard web-browser.

Power Monitoring

The new web-enabled power monitoring solution is particularly timely, as sub-metering becomes more common industry-wide. The solution monitors (1) watts; (2) demand – present; (3) demand – peak; and (4) watt – hours. The data can also be aggregated over time across multiple sites and facilities to a single server for creating week, month, and year consumption.
