March 18, 2014 - Deutschmann Automation attained certification according to the current PROFINET 2.2 and GSDML 2.25 specifications for the PROFINET models from its UNIGATE IC and UNIGATE CL series.
Automation manufacturers can significantly reduce their development effort by means of these gateways and protocol converters. UNIGATE ICs are designed for direct embedment into terminal devices, while UNIGATE CL modules come in a DIN rail housing. The current generation of CLASS B certified 2-port protocol converters for PROFINET feature a FIDO communication processor which, employing PriorityChannel technology, ensures dependable PROFINET connections even under high network load or in ARP broadcast storms. Both models use a script for translating the terminal devices’ protocol. The script can be programmed by means of the free-of-charge PC tool Protocol Developer – changes to the firmware are unnecessary.
