February 22, 2012 - Douglas E. Peterson has been named President of Rittal Corporation, Urbana, Ohio. He comes to his new post from the Industrial Solutions Division of Belden Americas Group, Indianapolis, IN, where he was responsible for a company with more than $400 million in sales through its multiple business units – many of which dovetail with Rittal’s product lines. His experience includes broad exposure to a variety of disciplines in the electrical and IT markets.
Prior to Belden he served as General Manager of the U.S. subsidiary of Phoenix Contact, Harrisburg, PA, a strong world-wide partner with Rittal, where he helped to spearhead 45 percent sales growth while outperforming all the company’s competitors. “I'm extremely honored and feel privileged to be the new president of such a great company,” Peterson says, “There is no doubt that we have a lot of opportunities ahead of us, and we have the means to achieve our goals and objectives in 2012 and far beyond. I’m looking forward to an exciting future.

We’re adding people to our workforce, we’re adding products to our already extensive lines and we’re expanding our facilities and technology to be even more responsive to the needs of our customers and distribution partners.” A native of Ohio and the Dayton area, Peterson graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Dayton and received an MBA from Xavier University, Cincinnati.
He gained much of his early experience working for nearly 20 years in various divisions of GE.
