For OEMs seeking to wireless–enable their products, DPAC's Airborne™ 802.11b Wireless LAN Node Module Evaluation and Development Kit allows them to demonstrate/evaluate the Airborne Module's performance and capabilities.

The kit consists of a main development board populated with the Airborne Module, a highly integrated 802.11b module incorporating a radio, base–band processor, application processor and software for a "drop–in" web–enabled WiFi solution.OEM engineers use the DPAC Airborne™ 802.11b Wireless LAN Node Module Evaluation and Development Kit as a versatile development platform for rapidly integrating the Airborne Module into new designs. The kit comes with a full suite of development tools and utilities, which include:

  • Airborne Evaluation Utility - Allows connection of any device with an RS232 serial port to the Airborne Module, establishing an 802.11 wireless connection.
  • OEM Configuration Tool - Enables Airborne Module configuration so it meets specific design/application requirements.
  • Dynamic Link Library - Provides a Windows™-based application programming interface callable from any C, C++ or Visual Basic application.
  • Virtual Serial Port Driver - Offers a quick way to convert from wired to wireless connectivity (for OEMs with applications already written for devices linked to a standard serial port).

For flexibility, the DPAC Airborne™ 802.11b Wireless LAN Node Module Evaluation and Development Kit offers various I/O connections: digital and RS232 UART ports, multiple GPIO ports, analog input ports, and an optional SPI bus port.
