August 15, 2012 - Eaton adds circuit breakers to Magnum DS switchgear for low-voltage distribution systems. The Magnum DS switchgear now incorporates the Magnum Narrow 4000 ampere circuit breaker and is designed for customers who require high power density in a limited space. Reducing equipment footprintenables commercial, industrial, institutions and government facilities to condense electrical closet size and reduce total cost of ownership. Eaton condensed the Magnum narrow frame power and air circuit breaker into a 30-inch wide switchgear structure to minimize overall space requirements and deliver high-level performance. The reduced size and weight of the compact breaker also make it more manageable for the operator to handle.
The Magnum DS switchgear meets Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1558 and 891 standards for alternating current (AC) systems up to 600 volts. Magnum DS switchgear is also tested to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C37.20.7.1 and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60947-2 standards.
The Magnum 4000A breaker uses Digitrip unit technology, featuring Zone Selective Interlocking and Arcflash Reduction Maintenance System technology. The 4000A narrow frame features communications with Modbus and INCOM communications.
“Eaton delivers industry-leading power distribution equipment, helping customers across industries manager their power more safely, reliably and efficiently,” said Trent Thomas, manager of marketing programs at Eaton. “The new Magnum DS design incorporates Eaton’s industry-leading Magnum narrow breaker to provide customers with the smallest 4000A structure in the industry.” Eaton’s electrical business is a global leader in power distribution, power quality, control and automation, power monitoring, and energy management products and services.
