New Data Services are launched for monitoring and localization of fixed and mobile asset
ROME (February 2006) Elsacom a Finmeccanica company, partner of Globalstar - the world's most widely used handheld and fixed satellite phone network – and service provider in most of European Countries today announced that a new data service will be offered to European customers.Globalfleet represents a remarkable breakthrough in global data access and space-based communications that enables a variety of new applications that were previously non possible or economically viable.Globalfleet is highly affordable service combining satellite technology with the internet to provide location and sensor information retrieval from virtually any location on Earth.
The information is collected from any analog or digital sensor, including GPS, and transmitted one way in 72-bit messages through the Globalfleet.biz portal.The Globalstar terminals are much smaller and inexpensive than previous technologies. Power requirements are minimal allowing lifetimes of years in a wide array of applications, such as:

Transport and logistic

Environmental monitoring
The system can be easily used for wildlife tracking as well as environmental, meteorological, and oceanographic data collection around the world (meteorological stations, weighing platforms, refractometers, RF peripherals).
