Emerson can now provide stand-alone PAT solutions for R&D labs, or deliver an integrated DeltaV or Syncade PAT solution for manufacturing floors.

January 14, 2009 - Emerson Process Management integrated Optimal’s synTQ PAT data management package with the PlantWeb digital plant architecture. This delivers a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) solution that leverages existing automation investments and has the scalability to deliver stand-alone PAT solutions for R&D labs, or deliver an integrated DeltaV or Syncade PAT solution for manufacturing floors. “Emerson now has a full PAT solution,” said Saroj Patnaik, director, life sciences, from Emerson’s global industry solutions group. “Global trends like changing disease profiles, the increasing aging population and government run health care will demand more-for-less manufacturing methods.

Producing more safe products in smaller quantities across the world in a cost effective manner is a daunting task for our customers. We believe PAT has the promise to be the holy grail of real-time release of products. The Emerson/synTQ alliance will help our customers meet these cost pressures by leveraging their existing automation investment.”The synTQ data management package, in concert with DeltaV automation system, monitors the manufacturing process holistically and adjusts the process to continually optimize product quality. This technology requires both accurate and real-time information as to how critical-to-quality product attributes are varying as the process progresses, and adjusts the process to continually optimize these parameters.

Optimal’s synTQ software product collects real-time instrument analytical data together with the control system’s univariate data and derives the necessary critical-to-quality product information in real-time. The trends in this critical-to-quality information can then be used by synTQ and the control system to steer the process to improve product quality together with timely manufacturing execution. “We are gratified to have this formal alliance in place with Emerson,” said Martin Gadsby, director of Optimal Industrial Automation. “This alliance is a good fit for us. This alliance expands the synTQ package with a global sales and support capability from Emerson.

Additionally, synTQ provides our clients with a best-in-class PAT Data Management System with the full support of Emerson. Our projected development path for the synTQ package is to more tightly integrate it with Emerson’s PlantWeb architecture. The important value to the customer is its ability to integrate seamlessly to customers’ preferred analytical instruments and lab systems.”
