This free web-based application, available at http://www.emersonprocess.com/wirelessplanning , allows users to upload an image of their plant in order to design a customized wireless network using IEC-approved WirelessHART network standards. Backed by Emerson’s proven experience in Smart Wireless network applications, the Smart Wireless Planning Tool encourages users to test out plant network configurations and application possibilities in their facility before investing in wireless technology.
Not only can users set specific limitations, parameters, and standards for their network, they can also verify their configuration against proven industry best practices and gain recommendations for increasing the robustness of their network design. Best practices recommendations reflect the industry-proven suggestions found in the IEC 62591 WirelessHART System Engineering Guide from the HART Communications Foundation. Users can also save their network configuration for future reference and revision. If the facility chooses to invest in Smart Wireless, the saved network configuration can be imported to the AMS Wireless SNAP-ON application for network management and predictive diagnostics.
