EMS introduces the first UHF systems exclusively for the industrial environment
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA, August 15, 2005 — Escort Memory Systems today announces the UHF-UN1 integrated RFID controller/antenna and UHF525HT high temperature passive tag solution for long-range, industrial applications. Escort Memory Systems leads the pack in RFID solutions for industrial control. With over 20 years of innovation in design and over fifty thousand installations worldwide, Escort Memory Systems is the company that understands RFID from the inside out.Escort Memory Systems President, Luciano Mattioli, describing the new UHF products explained, “With this introduction, Escort Memory Systems now has the broadest RFID offering available to the factory integrator or end-user requiring rugged products for industrial manufacturing environments.
Like all new Escort Memory Systems products, it is designed for fast connectivity to high-speed hosts and easy integration into industrial environments. Make no mistake; these products change the playing field for industrial RFID.”The compact size of the UHF-UN1, versatile design and high speed TCP/IP connectivity reduces installation time, labor costs, and hardware installation accessory costs (mounting brackets, power cables, and antenna cables). The UHF-UN1 integrated controller and UHF525HT high temperature passive tag solution are ideal for industrial applications where single or multiple tags have to be read at long distances and high rates. The UHF-UN1 is an integrated Ultra High Frequency (902-928 MHz), RFID controller/antenna.
The UHF-UN1 is capable of reading and writing to the UHF525HT passive tag as well as all EPC Class 0, Class 0 +, Class 1, ISO18000-6B and Escort Memory System tags. The UHF-UN1 is software upgradeable to communicate with EPC Gen 2 tags. The UHF-UN1 is a single package containing a built-in controller/antenna, eliminating the two boxes (controller + antenna + cable) offered by most UHF suppliers. Another important feature of the UHF-UN1 is the single cable connection. The only cable going from the reader to the network is an Ethernet cable that supplies both communication and power using the Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature.
This single point connection to the UHF-UN1 makes it ideal for the integrator concerned about integration times, cost and reliability. The UHF525HT is a rugged high-temperature long-range Ultra High Frequency (902-928 MHz) tag. This tag is designed to work at ranges up to four feet when mounted to metal carriers and interrogated with the UHF-UN1 reader. Ideally suited for Body & Assembly and Paint Shop applications in the automotive industry, the UHF525HT is the only high-temperature tag in the market that survives up to 204°C. The tag complies with the international standard of ISO18000-6B and can be used anywhere in the world where UHF can be used.
Escort Memory System’s patented technology allows the tag to maintain a small form factor and rugged construction. The UHF525HT is ideal for applications that involve data tracking in high-temperature environments up to 204°C (400° F). The tag is typically attached to containers, carriers or assets that repeatedly get exposed to high-temperatures during the manufacturing process.
