Joey Stubbs, ETG North American representative, will run the office in Austin, Texas.

AUSTIN, TX, June 6, 2007 – The largest Industrial Ethernet organization in the world, the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG), established the group’s first North American office. The newest ETG office is based in the Volente, TX (greater Austin area) and is overseen by new ETG North American representative, Joey Stubbs. With over 500 member companies from around the world, the ETG includes many of largest and most influential North American companies in the industrial device vendor, software, machine building and manufacturing industries. Stubbs joins the EtherCAT Technology Group with several years of experience with the next generation Ethernet-based fieldbus as well as numerous other major industrial protocols.

Prior to joining the ETG, Stubbs worked as a Sales and Applications Engineer with Beckhoff Automation where he strengthened his expertise in the areas of Industrial Ethernet, fieldbuses, automation, PC-based control, PLCs and motion control. “I am very excited to bring Joey into the EtherCAT Technology Group to establish the ETG’s first North American office,” said Martin Rostan, Director, EtherCAT Technology Group. “With his years of technical experience working with EtherCAT industrial applications, Joey is an ideal fit for the organization and will have an immediate impact serving our North American member companies.”

Joey holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, as well as several technical degrees. He is also a registered Professional Engineer. The EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) is a forum in which key user companies from various industries and leading automation suppliers join forces to support, promote and advance EtherCAT technology.

With over 500 member companies, the ETG is the largest Industrial Ethernet organization in the world. EtherCAT sets new standards for real-time, deterministic Ethernet fieldbus performance because it can process 1,000 distributed I/O in 30 µs or 100 axes in 100 µs using twisted pair or fiber optic cable. Regarding topology, EtherCAT gives users the choice: it supports a simple low cost line structure, a tree structure, daisy chaining or drop lines.
