August 5, 2013 - EVT adds Raspberry Pi support to EyeVision software. The EyeVision 3.0 is equipped with a platform independent user interface and now runs on the Raspberry Pi operating system called Raspian, which is a slightly modified Debian distribution On the board, which is only 8 by 5 cm in size is integrated a 700 MHz ARM processor and optional a 256 or 512 Megabyte working memory. As hard disk serves a at least 2 Gigabyte SD-card.
The combination of EyeVision 3.0 and the extremely small processor offer new possibilies for the industrial machine vision. For example the user is now able to connect USB cameras by The Imaging Source (TIS) and IDS. This makes a quite low cost solution for image processing tasks such as object detection, pattern matching, measurement technology, code reading (Barcode, DMC, QR), OCR/ OCV, surface inspection, contour detection, etc. The advantage of the miniaturized one-board-computer, such as Raspberry Pi, is that it does occuppy very little space and this makes it easy to operate decentralized applications.
Therefore also the EyeVision software is applicable in even more industrial fields. Together with the autofocus camera by The Imaging Source, for EyeVision 3.0 opens up fields such as medical and pharmaceutical industries, microscopy, as well as automotive, electronic, semiconductor, food, cosmetics and stamping part industries. The programming of the inspection programs with the EyeVision 3.0 version is carried out with the drag-and-drop function.
And there are also quite new features the software has to offer. For example the user has now the possibility to create more than one Camera Viewer out of the different Image Memories. This means that one has a clear overview over the created inspection program. Additionally the software offers now a Context Help, where the various commands and there functions are described.
