The actuators are approved for applications requiring CSA Class I, Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D certification—making them suitable for hazardous operation.

April 1, 2012 — Exlar announces that Tritex II DC actuators are now CSA certified and in compliance with CSA 139 (Valve Actuator Standard). The actuators accommodate applications requiring CSA Class I, Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D certification—making them suitable for hazardous location operation. Tritex II DC actuators integrate a servo drive, digital position controller, brushless motor and linear or rotary actuator in one compact, sealed package. Linear actuators employ Exlar’s patented inverted roller screw mechanism, seamlessly converting rotary motion into highly-robust linear motion for sliding stem control valve applications.

Rotary actuators are ideal for operating quarter-turn ball and butterfly control valves or shaft driven dampers and can be mounted directly on the rotary valve, eliminating any linear to rotary conversion hardware. Tritex II DC actuators overcome performance limitations common in traditional electric actuator technologies for process control applications. Tritex II DC actuators offer 100 percent continuous duty with life counts in the hundreds of millions of cycles, response times in milliseconds and accuracy of 0.10 percent of span. Capable of reaching speeds up to 25 inches/second and forces to 1,000 pounds, Tritex II DC actuators virtually eliminate deadband and prevent stiction in the valve stem from causing operation malfunctions—even in continuous duty applications.

Exlar Corporation designs, manufactures and sells linear and rotary motion products worldwide.
