ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., March 7, 2007 – FANUC Robotics America, Inc. has received SsangYong Motor Company’s Supplier Appreciation Award for the development of an automated paint system installed in 2006. FANUC Robotics had turnkey responsibility for the flexible system that includes paint robots and automated door/hood openers for interior and exterior vehicle painting. The system allows SsangYong, a premier manufacturer of sport utility vehicles (SUV) and recreational vehicles (RV) in the Asian market, to switch quickly between significantly different types of paint materials while maintaining high paint transfer efficiency.

“We’re proud to be one of just 12 suppliers to receive this prestigious award from SsangYong Motor,” said Jon Karr, vice president, paintshop automation, FANUC Robotics. The award was presented to FANUC Robotics at a Feb. 15, 2007 ceremony held at the SsangYong Pyung Taek Plant in Korea. FANUC Robotics America, Inc. designs, engineers and manufactures industrial robots and robotic systems for a wide range of applications including arc and spot welding, material handling (machine tending, picking, packing, palletizing), material removal, assembly, paint finishing and dispensing.
