Fully integrated, modular tote system offers rapid point-to-point transport with 100% reliable baggage tracking and tracing
(Danville, KY: August 18, 2003) The FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Baggage Handling Team, a leader in providing total baggage handling solutions in both the US and internationally, announces the launch of CrisBag™, an innovative ultra-high-speed, high-volume singulated baggage transport and sortation system. The launch of Crisbag in North America follows the successful implementation of Crisbag systems in Munich Airport's Terminal 2 and Singapore's Changi Airport by FKI Logistex. The unique CrisBag tote system enables rapid point-to-point transportation of passenger bags, maintaining 100% baggage tracking and tracing by ensuring each bag stays in the same tote (which carries a unique license plate) from check-in to discharge.
By keeping bags in their assigned totes, the exact location of each bag can be accurately pinpointed at any position throughout the system, providing reliable, accurate and fast transportation and sortation, even over extended distances. Each CrisBag transport line efficiently handles passenger bags at 23 feet per second, resulting in high throughput rates. The exceptional modular design enables supplementary lines and circuits to be placed either side-by-side or stacked vertically, allowing the system to be custom-tailored to each installation's particular volume needs and space limitations. As a fully integrated system, CrisBag offers an ideal early bag storage solution.
All functional units required for early bag storage facilities are incorporated into CrisBag's architecture, including buffer lines, totes, conveyors, and chutes. With 100% tracking and tracing, baggage needing to be rebooked can be removed from storage safely, without fear of being lost or misdirected. The CrisBag system is also designed to cater to high-traffic airports which require fast terminal-to-terminal luggage transfer. The Crisbag system integrates with the extensive line of FKI Logistex baggage handling and sortation equipment, including baggage claim, make-up pier, and Hold Bag Screening (HBS) products.
