Heavy-duty pusher employs innovative technology to provide gentle yet powerful high-capacity baggage sortation
(Danville, KY, August 18, 2003) The FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Baggage Handling Team, a leader in providing total baggage handling solutions in both the US and internationally, announces the launch of the Durapush®, an inverter-powered pusher designed for smooth, reliable and powerful high-speed baggage sortation. The new Durapush features a streamlined architecture with an integrated controls system and no mechanical brakes. With fewer mechanical parts requiring adjustment and replacement, the Durapush offers increased reliability and true maintenance cost-savings and is an ideal for retrofit situations or new system applications.
The Durapush employs a uniquely shaped pusher blade that achieves a 45° divert angle without requiring bags to be aligned against the blade face side of the conveyor belt. With a low cycle time of approximately 0.6 seconds and running at speeds of up to 400 fpm, the Durapush has a maximum sort capacity of 80 items per minute (approximately 4,800 pushes per hour). The blade assembly features an advanced urethane material and a dampening spring/shock unit to minimize impact damage to bags and articles. The pusher's precision Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) ensures smooth acceleration and deceleration, while the harmonic balance ensures smooth actuation during the divert cycle by reducing overall vibrations.
Patents are pending with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the new technologies found in the Durapush.
