Next-generation high speed sorter provides cost-effective, gentle, positive sortation for passenger bags and parcels
(Danville, KY: August 18, 2003) The FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Baggage Handling Team, a leader in providing total baggage handling solutions in both the US and internationally, announces the launch of the UniSort® Linear Belt Baggage (LBBS) sorter, representing the latest advance in cost effective, high speed baggage sortation. The Unisort LBBS is an ideal baggage handling solution for retrofit applications. With a maximum operating speed of 350 feet per minute and over 100 diverts per minute, the UniSort LBBS provides an incremental capacity increase over pusher/diverter technologies and offers a unique flat slat design which avoids jams and bag damage.
Combined with the transversing flat belts, the sorter offers gentle, positive diverts and sortation, thus reducing damage and wear-and-tear to passenger baggage. The Unisort LBBS offers high-speed sortation for passenger bags and parcels weighing up to 120 lbs. By employing a fully electric solenoid operated divert switch and a mechanical center crossover switch for dual-sided sortation, as well as an extruded aluminum chain rail system, the UniSort LBBS minimizes noise levels while maintaining high speed operations. Baggage and articles are inducted onto a series of moving slats containing transversing flat belts. The belts drive items from the sorter bed at the proper divert locations by a guided track pin and bearing assembly located beneath the carrying surface.
The UniSort LBBS flexible design allows for left-hand, right-hand, dual-sided, and custom induction and diversion configurations. In addition, the sorter is designed to integrate quickly and easily with the extensive line of FKI Logistex baggage handling and sortation equipment, including system controls, baggage claim, make-up pier, and Hold Bag Screening (HBS) products.
