Isolated thermocouple analog input modules and the isolated RTD module work with PACSystems RX3i.

August 4, 2008 GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced two new modules for its PACSystems RX3i that reduce downtime, provide high resolution for improved process control and high performance sampling of data to improve throughput. The new isolated Thermocouple analog input modules and isolated Resistive Temperature Device (RTD) module deliver channel-to-channel isolation for performance and hot swap capability to reduce downtime. In process industries, the throughput of the system is critical. The more throughput you can get through your system, the more revenue you can make.

These new modules provide increased performance and advanced diagnostics taking advantage of the high performance RX3i PCI bus.In applications where the RX3i is controlling process based manufacturing: i.e. Water/Wastewater, Chemical Manufacturing, and Oil & Gas, the thermocouple modules provide advanced temperature input capabilities for applications where it is critical to the control. In addition, GE Fanuc also offers its Proficy Process Solutions set for process industry companies.

Proficy Process Systems, the cornerstone of these solutions, is a state-of-the-art, scalable, fully integrated system for process automation and control. Contemporary, yet proven technologies, including the PACSystems RX3i, provide the framework for a complete solution for process environments. “Companies using the PACSystems RX3i in process applications and need to have high performance thermocouple inputs for their controller will be excited by these new modules because of the productivity boost,” said Bill Black, Controllers Product Manager for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. “Everyone is looking to gain higher productivity with their existing equipment so they can boost revenue without boosting expenses.

“Three of the most important factors in looking at productivity are throughput, yield and downtime,” continued Black. “These new modules do a lot to improve each of these areas. The high performance sampling of data will give better throughput as it quickly processes the critical sample information. The high resolution (11.5-16 bits) of data gives better process control.

Your data accuracy is much better with higher resolution, and that directly contributes to yield as you control those processes. The final step in productivity is downtime, and the new advanced diagnostics in these modules help to get your faults cleared quickly and the process back up and running so that you can be more productive.”
