GE MDS is providing more than 1,000 radios and antennas, valued at $3.3 million, for the entire system.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., AUGUST 3, 2007 – GE MDS signed a contract for an estimated value of $3.3 million to provide an Algerian electric company with a wireless infrastructure to support their countrywide SCADA system. As a subcontractor on this large project, GE MDS is providing more than one thousand 4710/4790 radios and antennas for the entire system.

The radios provide communications for collecting data for a diagnostics and control network forming part of the SCADA network for the HV/HV and HV/LV distribution centers. In addition, GE MDS will be managing the engineering and procurement of more than 140 towers across the country. “Geographically, this is truly where our radios shine and can perform beyond expectations. The industrial, rugged nature of our products is the perfect solution for a climate and terrain as varied as Algeria,” said GE MDS Chief Operating Officer David Rodriguez.

“We’ve worked hard to establish relationships in this region and it’s paying off with a great opportunity such as this.”
