ESPELKAMP, Nov. 25, 2025 – The HARTING Technology Group is presenting a new crimp change unit for semi-automatic and fully automatic crimping machines at the “Smart Production Systems” (SPS) trade fair in Nuremberg. This tool enables high-quality, turned Han contacts on rolls to be processed, precisely positioned and crimped onto conductors in a matter of seconds.
Until now, only contact strips with stamped contacts were available for automatic feeding into crimping machines. The new interchangeable tool from HARTING now also allows high-quality turned contacts from the Han D, Han C and Han E series to be processed for the first time. A new plastic belt ensures that the contacts are held securely in place and positioned precisely.
The new tool can be used for conductor cross-sections from 0.14 to 6 mm2 and is suitable for common semi-automatic and fully automatic machines, for example from Schäfer, Komax or Schleuniger. Due to the lower process costs, the crimping interchangeable tool is particularly suitable when large quantities of turned contacts are processed in semi-automatic or fully automatic machines. HARTING experts are happy to provide individual support with a cost-efficiency calculation.
Crimping possible every second
The HARTING crimp change unit processes a total of 34 different contact variants with the above-mentioned conductor cross-sections. HARTING supplies the tool and the contacts on a reel. Fully automatic machines can thus achieve working cycles of up to one second for stripping and crimping contacts.
With the right machines, users save not only on process costs but also on personnel costs. Kamil Rezmer, Product Manager for Installation Technology/Tools at HARTING: "The crimp change unit is a useful investment for cable assemblers and manufacturers who crimp on a large scale and may already be using semi-automatic or fully automatic machines. This is particularly true in the wind energy, mechanical engineering and automation industries. However, speeding up processes and thus reducing overall costs is highly relevant for all areas of application.
