September 5, 2012-- Hectronic announced the H6816, a Computer-on-Module in the COM Express Compact form factor and based on the dual core Intel Atom processors N2600, N2800 and D2550 (formerly known as Cedarview). The Intel NM10 Express chipset is included in the platform. H6816 offers significantly improved power-consumption performance ratio compared to previous Intel Atom generations. The graphics capabilities include 24-bit dual channel LVDS accessible directly from the module, as well as VGA.
The H6816 is the ideal choice for embedded applications requiring a combination of powerful computing performance, low power consumption and compact size, as well as extensive graphics and media-acceleration capabilities. The onboard GPU supports for example Blu-ray playback, Direct X9 and Open GL 3.0 graphics. The H6816 module is a good fit designs within digital signage, security and surveillance, high end HMIs, as examples.
The entry-level alternative (Intel Atom N2600) among the three processor options offers fan-less dual-core performance and only 3.5 W TDP (CPU). H6816 supports COM Express pinout type 2 which is the dominating variant among existing COM Express designs. The I/O interface of H6816 includes for instance 4x PCI, 4x PCI Express ports, 8x USB 2.0 and 1x Gigabit LAN.
Legacy I/O can be supported via the LPC (low pin count) bus. BIOS supports all common Super I/O controllers on the market. Samples are available now. Technical support is provided directly from Hectronic’s development team in Uppsala, near Stockholm, Sweden.
