HEIDENHAIN introduces RIx 400 inductive rotary encoders
RIx 400 attains 16-bit single-turn resolution, a measuring step of 20 angular seconds for speed control, and an accuracy of ±480 in. for positioning.

SCHAUMBURG, IL - (July 2, 2007) – To bridge the gap between resolvers and high-end rotary encoders in automated machine applications, HEIDENHAIN Corporation is now making available a line of inductive rotary encoders, the RIx 400 series with bearings. This new true absolute series of encoders is intended to broaden the possibilities of incorporating high quality, yet affordably priced rotary encoders from HEIDENHAIN, into an automated machine’s motion control system.By utilizing these inductive-type encoders, users are able to reduce their overall system costs.

The RIx 400 series rotary encoders are available in both single-turn and multi-turn versions. The first generation of HEIDENHAIN’s RIx 400 series now enables users to attain a 16-bit single-turn resolution with a measuring step of 20 angular seconds for speed control, and an accuracy of ±480” for positioning. These encoders also reach the vibration load capacity of HEIDENHAIN’s optical encoders with flange socket (150 m/s2), with later generations planned with higher loads if necessary. The mechanical dimensions of these current RIx400 inductive encoders with a solid shaft are identical to those of HEIDENHAIN’s optical encoders.

Samples them are now available with EnDat 2.1 interfaces.HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION is the North American subsidiary of DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH, a leading international manufacturer of precision measurement and control equipment. Our product line includes linear scales, rotary and angular encoders, digital readouts, digital length gages, CNC controls and machine inspection equipment.
