Fully compatible with all major DCSes, CCS-HIMA helps operators minimize process disturbances; prevent surge, overspeed and associated damage; automate start-up and shutdown; and minimize recycle or blow-off.

September 4, 2014 - HIMA introduces CCS-HIMA turbomachinery safety controller featuring advanced TMC algorithms from CCS running on HIMax safety controllers from HIMA,. The CCS-HIMA turbomachinery solution provides operators of rotating equipment the full spectrum of control applications. For companies in the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, metallurgy and power generation industries, this first-of-its-kind solution enhances safety, helps protect critical machines and reduces hardware lifecycle maintenance costs.

Fully compatible with all major distributed control systems (DCS) and other HIMA safety instrumented systems, the new TMC solution helps operators to minimize process disturbances; prevent surge, overspeed and associated damage; automate start-up and shutdown; and minimize recycle or blow-off. The solution also facilitates load sharing and load balancing for multiple process trains, running in series or parallel. The CCS-HIMA turbomachinery solution features multiple levels of defense against compressor surge. The dual-loop surge prevention controller (SPC) uses two PID loops (dP and Rc) to simultaneously monitor the distance to surge from any given operating point of a compressor.

If either measurement becomes unavailable, the SPC will automatically and seamlessly switch to the available control loop. The solution also offers proportional tuning and dynamic safety control to predict possible surge conditions and act to prevent them from occurring.

“We’re excited about our collaboration with CCS and are proud to bring this new TMC solution to companies whose safe operations and financial success depend on turbomachinery,” said Buddy Creef, National Sales Manager, HIMA Americas. “This combination of advanced hardware and software is a breakthrough for companies that want a solution focused on their entire process, not just protection for machines,” added Boris Shcharansky, Vice President, CCS. “We offer a complete software solution available on proven HIMax safety systems tailored to each project, as well as extensive support services.”
