September 20, 2012 - HIWIN introduces two new products: the Rolcrew ballscrew and the QR Series Linear Motion Guideway with SynchMotion technology.
The new HIWIN Rolcrew ballscrew uses a special pathway unit incorporating rollers instead of steel balls. The rollers increase the contact area, allowing the Rolcrew to offer up to two times greater rigidity when compared with the traditional ballscrew. HIWIN’s Rolcrew features high rigidity, high load capacity, high efficiency, high reliability and high interchangeability, extending the service life up to two times longer. In addition, the optimized pathway design successfully reduces noise during operation. The Rolcrew is the ideal solution for all electric-driven injection molding machines, heavy load precision machines, gantry and CNC EDM.
The QR Series Linear Motion Guideway with SynchMotion technology is another exceptional motion control solution for applications requiring high rigidity and precision control. The rollers in the QR Series disperse the load more evenly, offing low friction, smooth movement, quieter operation and longer running life. Applications include CNC machining centers, heavy-duty cutting machines, CNC grinding machines, injection molding machines and automation systems.
The product introductions illustrate the growing power of Taiwan’s machine tool industry. Taiwan is the world’s fourth largest exporter of machine tools and ranks sixth overall in global production with sales of US $5 billion.
HIWIN Technologies is one of the companies illustrating the benefits of Taiwan’s approach to supporting the machine tool industry. Established in 1989, the company has U.S. headquarters operations in Elgin, Ill., about 40 miles outside of Chicago.
“Our U.S. operations give customers the best of both worlds,” said Joe Jou, president of the company’s U.S. subsidiary.
“They get the value pricing of production in Taiwan, but customization, quick delivery and customer support from our local operations.”
HIWIN offers a complete product line including precision ballscrews, linear guideways and industrial robots. The ball screws and linear guideways manufactured by HIWIN are commonly used in precision machine tools, medical equipment, solar and wind power equipment, semiconductor and 3C products.
There are more than 500 machine tool manufacturers in Taiwan and it is the country’s most important industry by value, according to officials from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), which helped support Taiwan’s exhibitors at IMTS 2012.
