In addition to providing user support HMS plans to specialize in helping device manufacturers add PROFINET to their products.

December 14, 2010 - HMS Industrial Networks has been certified as a PI Competence Center (PICC) in the USA for PROFINET. PI Competence Centers are centers of technical expertise and work closely together with the Regional PI Associations to offer technical support, technical seminars and workshops to the vendor community. This certification reflects HMS Industrial Networks’ high level of knowledge and experience in the application of PROFINET technology. “PI North America is delighted to have HMS add a PI Competence Center (PICC) for PROFINET here in the US. Certification as a PI Competence Center is a challenging task, requiring equipment from multiple vendors, certified personnel, and an onsite audit of the applicant’s capabilities.

HMS is to be congratulated for successfully achieving certification. Re-certification is required every two years to ensure that PI’s high standards are maintained. This is another indicator of PROFINET’s increasing success in the North American market” states Carl Henning, Deputy Director of PI North America. This is the second PICC office for HMS as the office in Germany is already a competence center for PROFINET.

And HMS is only the second PICC in the US.HMS will focus on providing technical support and training to first-time developers of PROFINET devices and systems based on Anybus technology. In addition to providing user support HMS plans to specialize in helping device manufacturers add PROFINET to their products.
