Validation of Holt's CAN controller at C&S group guarantees conformance and correct protocol response when operating within a CAN network.

February 14, 2012 – Holt Integrated Circuits announced independent validation of its CAN controller family at C&S group in Germany. C&S, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test house, is the industry recognized authority for validation of CAN controllers according to protocol specification ISO 11898. The validation was performed to test specification ISO 16845:2004. In addition, C&S group performed additional conformance tests not covered by the original ISO test specification. Validation of Holt's CAN controller at C&S group guarantees conformance and correct protocol response when operating within a CAN network.

A copy of the final test report is available upon request. "Holt is excited to offer this new CAN controller to the industrial market," said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. "Holt's track record in avionics makes us an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications."

Holt's HI-5110 CAN controller integrates the analog transceiver on the same chip as the digital protocol engine. This provides a compact single-chip interface between the physical bus and upper layer protocols such as DeviceNet and CANopen. Additional attractive features include deeper FIFOs, a flexible frame filtering scheme tailored to DeviceNet applications and short-circuit survival to ±58V. A protocol-only version, HI-5111, is also available, as are development kits, standalone transceivers and software. The devices are available in -40°C to +85°C and -55°C to +125°C temperature ranges and are offered in 18 pin SOIC or compact 7mm x 7mm 44-pin QFN packages (HI-5113).

All controllers are available immediately, priced from $4.85 in 1K quantities. Standalone transceivers (HI-5000 family) are also offered, priced from $1.10 in 1K quantities.
