PHOENIX, Ariz., August 11, 2003 – Honeywell (HON: NYSE) Industrial Measurement and Control today introduced the STT25T Dual-Input Smart Temperature Transmitter for temperature measurement in industries such ashydrocarbon processing, chemicals, pulp and paper, and power generation. Designed for critical processes that require high uptime and secure operations, the STT25T accepts two temperature sensor inputs, eitherthermocouples or Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD), or a mixture of both.Sensor redundancy: The STT25T is well-suited for applications that require high-accuracy RTD measurement, but also involve high temperatures where sensor burnout is likely.

The STT25T solution backs up the RTD with a thermocouple that can maintain a good measurement with a lower, yet acceptablelevel of performance. Sensor integrity: Temperature sensors often are purchased as duplex/dual thermocouples or RTDs; one for taking the active measurement, and the other for performing maintenance cross-checks for sensor integrity. The STT25T can be configured to auto-check one sensor against the other and generate an alarm if a specific difference between the two values occurs.Security: The STT25T has a hard-wire link for selection of upscale or downscale failsafe in the event of a sensor or other failure. Driving the instrument to transmit a higher (upscale) or lower (downscale) reading alerts the user to the problem.
