Refinery Will Use Experion PKS Automation Control System to Improve Production, Safety and Environmental Performance
PHOENIX, Jan. 21, 2004 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Process Solutions announced today that it has received a $3.8 million contract to automate refinery and power plant operations for Croatia's national oil and gas company INA Industrija Nafte Zagreb. The integrated solution will enable INA to increase production and environmental performance at the Rijeka Refinery by providing more accurate monitoring and control of the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit and power plant. The automation project is part of a facility modernization project to improve production, safety and environmental performance at INA's Rijeka refinery.
INA selected an Experion PKS® Process Knowledge Solution(tm) for the power plant modernization. The Experion PKS solution integrates an Emergency Shutdown System to provide plant operators with a more complete and effective view of critical operations affecting all areas of the facility. For the FCC unit Honeywell will provide a TotalPlant® Solution (TPS) system with Icon operator consoles, High-Performance Process Managers, a Fail-Safe Control (FSC®) system, as well as advance control and asset management applications. Honeywell will provide engineering, on-site services and project management throughout the Rijeka Refinery automation project.
The Rijeka Refinery automation project is part of widespread business modernization programs to strengthen INA's ability to serve the growing European market. INA conducts exploration and production of hydrocarbons, owns and operates two fuel refineries and two lube refineries in Croatia, and serves a network of approximately 450 wholesale and retail outlets in Croatia and abroad.
