Honeywell will supply automation and control for the Nuon Magnum plant, a 1200 MW coal/biomass and natural gas power station planned in Eemshaven, the Netherlands.

AMSTERDAM, May 10, 2007 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced it has been awarded an automation and control design contract for the Nuon Magnum plant, a 1200 megawatt coal/biomass and natural gas power station planned in Eemshaven, the Netherlands. Honeywell has proposed a range of solutions for automation and safety management at the plant, including its Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS). Once online in 2010 or 2011, the Nuon Magnum plant is expected to be one of the largest plants of its type in the world. The project will begin with a study phase, followed by an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase.

For the EPC phase, Honeywell has proposed implementing Experion PKS together with its Safety Manager system and an operator training simulator, as well as providing related engineering services. With the ability to produce clean power and capture carbon dioxide emissions, the Nuon Magnum plant will be a world-class showcase for coal/biomass gasification based clean power generation. "Low-emissions plants of the future will run differently than those of today, requiring far more accurate and responsive control over the plant functions," said Edwin van den Maagdenberg, regional general manager for Honeywell Process Solutions Northern Europe.

"The technology we are implementing will ultimately help the customer achieve its objective of running a productive and profitable plant with minimal environmental impact." Honeywell International is a $33 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials.
