E.P.C. Contractor Tractebel Engineering International Selects Experion PKS for the Project
PHOENIX, Sept. 3, 2003 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Industry Solutions announced that it has been selected by E.P.C. contractor Tractebel Engineering International for a comprehensive automation solution including Honeywell's Experion PKS(tm) Process Knowledge System(tm), Fail Safe Controller (FSC®) and fire and gas detectors.
The contract is worth $2.5 million and will be implemented at the new Transgas Atlantico LNG (liquid natural gas) import terminal in Sines, Portugal. Honeywell's integrated automation solution will allow Transgas Atlantico's Sines terminal to run safely, with the greatest possible operating efficiency and with high availability. Honeywell's Digital Video Manager, Access Control and Anti-Intrusion solutions were ordered through a separate contract with Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions.
Honeywell will perform the complete configuration of the system and provide site services such as erection assistance, commissioning and start-up assistance.The Sines terminal is located on the Atlantic coast of Portugal, approximately 150 km south of Lisbon, and is expected to begin operations by the end of 2003. It consists of marine facilities for receiving and unloading LNG from tankers, two LNG storage tanks, LNG regasification facilities and natural gas send-out equipment to an export pipeline. This world-class LNG import terminal will promote the wider and efficient application of clean natural gas on the Iberian Peninsula. "A project of this scope requires an automation technology that offers superior interoperability and has the ability to grow with the facility," said Tractebel.
