CAN-8823 is a CANopen remote I/O Unit with 8 I/O expansion slots.

March 18, 2016 - ICP DAS releases CAN-8823, a CANopen remote I/O Unit with 8 I/O expansion slots. Based on the flexible CAN bus technology, the CAN-8823 control unit is designed for CANopen protocol slave devices. Complying with the CANopen specifications of the DS-301 V4.02 and DSP-401 V2.1, the CAN-8823 features dynamic Process Data Objects (PDO), EMCY object, error output value, SYNC cyclic and acyclic, as well as providing standardized communication for real-time data processing.

This includes Service Data Object data, network management data (NMT message, and Error Control), Time Stamp, Sync Message, and Emergency Message.

The CAN-8823 comes with a free utility for dynamic creation of EDS files, and it is easy to configure. The EDS, based on the CANopen DSP-306, is compatible with various CANopen master interfaces. CANopen is a communication protocol with flexible configuration. It is widely used in medical equipment, off-road vehicles, maritime electronics, public transportation, etc.
