Eaton's Training Services is a PLCopen certified training center for the IEC 61131-3 programming language standard.

May 14, 2009 - Eaton Corporation announced that its Hydraulics Group’s Training Services is now equipped to provide training customers with an internationally recognized credential. The company’s Training Services is now a PLCopen certified training center for the International Electro-technical Commission IEC 61131-3 programming language standard. The IEC standard defines common data structures and programming methodologies to enable multiple engineers and programmers with different skill sets to collaborate on an application program. It is being adopted for a growing list of mobile application development projects around the world.

“Eaton’s CONTROL F(x) software complies with the IEC 61131-3 programming standard,” explained Tom Blansett, manager of training services for Eaton’s Hydraulics Group. “Offering this certification is a great example of how we make it easy for our customers to do business; we provide them with an internationally recognized credential as well as a very useful skill set.”IEC 61131-3 was the first global standard for industrial control and is becoming more prevalent in mobile electro-hydraulic applications. Compliant applications are completely scalable and can be updated or enhanced over time by anyone trained in the standard. Customers’ ability to save, modify and re-implement previously developed logic results in rapid control design.

Reuse of previously tested and implemented control logic not only increases the efficiency of development, but also the reliability of the end application.Eaton’s Hydraulics Group is a segment of the company’s Industrial Sector. The business is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of a comprehensive line of reliable, high-efficiency hydraulic systems and components for use in mobile and industrial applications.
