August 7, 2019 - igus has introduced an energy supply system, consisting of an energy chain, chainflex cables for tight bend radii, and an aluminum guide control, that allows users to guide data, media, fluids and air in tight spaces.
The system, called micro flizz, can be used with igus’ smart CF.D system, which monitors the data transmission characteristics of the cable in advance and promptly warns of a failure.
igus, the Germany-based manufacturer of motion plastics, runs its North American operations out of Providence, R.I.
In this system, travel speeds up to 6 m/s and accelerations up to 4 m/s 2 are possible. The micro flizz consists of a plastic energy chain that travels in an aluminium channel. In addition to chainflex control, data and motor cables for tight bend radii, the energy chain can also guide hoses as well as fiber optic cable with data rates of up to 10 gigabits per seconds.
Thanks to testing in the company’s expansive test laboratory, igus provides 36 months of guaranteed service life on all chainflex cables. If a user wants to monitor the transmission characteristics of a used bus cable, igus also offers the option of using the intelligent CF.D system in the micro flizz. The smart plastics innovation detects changes to the transmission characteristics of the cable in advance and provides information about an essential replacement.
