Series 686B meets ATEX and CSA approval requirements for use in hazardous environments.

August 18, 2010 - IMI Sensors announced ATEX approval of the Series 686B USB Programmable Smart Vibration Switch, designed for 24/7 continuous protection of cooling towers, fin fans, pumps, HVAC systems, and other critical machinery operated in hazardous areas.Meeting ATEX and CSA approval requirements for use in hazardous environments, the Series 686B is hermetically sealed and mounts with a single stud like a sensor. This Smart Vibration Switch includes an embedded piezoelectric accelerometer for accurate measurement, monitors vibration velocity for more consistent results, and provides the reliability not found in mechanical switches.

Series 686B also offers a remote reset capability and USB programmable threshold and time delays to avoid false trips. The Series 686B is highly versatile, fully user programmable via USB, low cost, and a drop-in replacement for most popular mechanical vibration switches, since it only requires two wires and can replace legacy switches without the need for additional cable runs. In addition to being a more reliable device than mechanical vibration switches, the Series 686B is also a significantly lower cost alternative for many electronic vibration switch applications requiring single relay operation.
