March 19, 2026 — IMI has been selected to supply specialist control valves for ultra-high-pressure injection systems supporting a major offshore development in the North Sea.
The valves will operate under extreme conditions where pressures exceed 600 bar (8,700 psi) supporting chemical injection processes that help maintain flow and optimise production from deep offshore wells.
IMI will provide its EroSolve Metamorphic Trim (MMT) valve range, engineered to deliver precise and stable pressure control under severe service conditions. The valves are designed to manage full pressure drops from 621 bar (9007 psi) to near vacuum conditions while maintaining accurate low flow regulation; a level of performance required for safe and reliable offshore operations.
The valves incorporate a multi-stage pressure reduction design, enabling controlled energy dissipation across the trim and protecting internal components from excessive wear.
The supply follows the successful completion of a rigorous endurance testing programme, where both balanced and unbalanced valve configurations were subject to operating conditions representative of field life.
Roby Buyung, president for Process Automation at IMI, said: “Offshore production environments continue to push engineering boundaries, particularly as developments move into deeper, higher-pressure fields.
“The project required valve technology capable of delivering extremely precise pressure control under conditions that would challenge most conventional designs. Our EroSolve Metamorphic Trim valves are engineered specifically for these severe service applications and this selection reflects the importance of proven, repeatable performance in safety-critical offshore systems.”
The project forms part of a wider offshore development programme and is now progressing in line with the customer’s delivery schedule. For further information, please visit: https://processautomation.imiplc.com/services/retrofit-and-upgrades/erosolve-metamorphic-trim
