July 17, 2014 - IMPERX appoints Barry Wolt Senior Camera Design Engineer.. Wolt brings extensive hardware design experience in the aerospace as well as commercial sectors. His past work includes development of several airborne video processing systems. At United Technologies Aerospace Systems, he was a key player in the development of the Airbus A350 video system.

Earlier, at Smiths Aerospace (now GE Aviation), Barry developed a video integration platform for the Airbus A400M military transport used to qualify and integrate the aircraft's many camera display subsystems from various vendors in the UK and continental Europe. Mr. Wolt's other related imaging and photonics development work includes laser systems at Spectra-Physics and drive electronics for Displaytech (now Micron Technology, Inc.) near-eye micro-displays including a groundbreaking miniaturized optical correlator device integrating CMOS imager and micro-display on a common silicon substrate. Mr.

Wolt has developed multiple CCD and CMOS camera products for smaller companies including a 16-tap 1000 fps CCD camera with in-camera DRAM frame buffering for military range testing. Early in his career, Barry was an engineer at Boeing Aerospace in Seattle where he worked on the Navy E-6 airborne command post and the electronics suite for a Navy P-3 Orion update. He then moved to Colorado Springs to work with legendary computer designer, Seymour Cray, for the development of the CRAY-3 Gallium Arsenide supercomputer where Barry developed large RAID disk interface electronics for the wideband data payload. Barry earned a BSEE degree from University of Washington, Seattle with follow-on graduate coursework at Washington.

Barry's technical breadth of experience and successes in designing commercial aircraft-certified airborne systems is a welcome addition to IMPERX, as it continues its growth to serve an increasingly wider array of customers in the most demanding imaging applications.
