November 12, 2013 - INSYS icom introduces the RSM-E100, a LAN-to-LAN multi-port router designed especially for systems with the Siemens controller SINUMERIK 840D sl. The LAN-to-LAN router features a multi-port switch (3 WAN, 5 local) and acts as an intelligent mediator between company, machine, and service networks. Machines with a SINUMERIK 840D sl can be accessed and programmed in a few steps from a company network with the controller’s standard IP settings. Reconfiguration of the machine network settings is thus no longer necessary. After a one-time, web-based router configuration (DHCP, DNS), each machine is assigned an unambiguous identifier (host name), which can be pre-set by the end customer, thus allowing for faster integration into customer networks.
All controller components are connected directly to the router and accessible via IP. A “detour” via the controller PCU is no longer required. Additionally, the RSM-E100 can be employed in customer networks for network segmentation (security firewall), or as a secure remote maintenance router e.g. in combination with the INSYS Connectivity Service for VPN connections.
Like all INSYS icom routers, the RSM-E100 features the proven, Linux-based INSYS operating system.
