Invensys will to provide safety systems, HMIs and DCSes for Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, units 3 and 4, two 1,000MW nuclear power units under construction in Fujian province in southeast China.

February 24, 2011 - Invensys Operations Management signed a third project-based agreement with China Nuclear Power Engineering (CNPE) to provide safety and distributed control systems and solutions for Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, units 3 and 4, two 1,000MW nuclear power units under construction in Fujian province in southeast China. Ulf Henriksson, chief executive officer, Invensys plc, commented, “This contract strengthens our position as a market-leading provider of control and safety technology to the global nuclear power industry. We look forward to continuing our work and strengthening our relationship with CNPE in the years ahead as they develop safe, reliable and efficient nuclear power for the people of China.”

Under the terms of the contract, Invensys will provide its Triconex critical control, Foxboro I/A Series distributed control systems (DCS) and human-machine interface (HMI) solutions to help the Fuqing Nuclear Power Company achieve control, safety and environmental excellence. “We are pleased to have reached further agreement with CNPE as they increase China’s power generation capacity,” said Sudipta Bhattacharya, president and chief executive officer, Invensys Operations Management. “Invensys systems and technology, as well as on-site project management, engineering, system integration, and installation and commissioning services, will help drive control, safety and environmental excellence in these new units.”

This is the third contract awarded to Invensys by CNPE, following agreements the companies reached in 2008 and 2010 for the development and implementation of several large-scale safety and non-safety distributed control systems, including fully digitized main control rooms. In total, Invensys safety and control system technology is being installed at eight nuclear power units under construction in the Fujian, Zhejiang and Hainan provinces.
