IXXAT is the first vendor worldwide to offer a PCI card for ETHERNET Powerlink V2. The card can be operated as a managing node (MN) and a controlled node (CN) and among other things enable simple implementation of real-time-compatible PC-based SPS applications for ETHERNET Powerlink. The card also serves as a platform for PC-based analysis and test systems. The ETHERNET Powerlink functionality is completely implemented on the PCI card, the reference data of the PC application (e.g.
Windows with real-time extension) being provided via a process map. Connection to VxWorks or other operating systems is also possible. It has fast response times in both MN and CN mode (< 2µs) and a very low SoC jitter. With regard to process data, the EPL interface card is able to process even large quantities of data from systems with more than 100 CNs. The card has four RJ45 ports and can therefore be used as an MN or CN with a 4-port hub, as a 2x2-channel CN or as an MN/CN.
In addition, the card can be operated together with the EPL configuration program. The scope of supply includes a driver for Windows 2000/XP and an API (programming interface). Adaptation to other operating systems (e.g.
